It’s a simple phrase alluding to something called ‘Iceberg Calving’ which, as we know, is happening more and more often due to global warming. This description indicates much more, however, in that when an iceberg ‘calves’ it creates a tremendous amount of noise and impact. The ‘calved’ ice appears to move in slow motion, it is so large. Some have even been known to trigger earthquakes and, almost certainly, tsunamis.
